Of college dating

The Virginia native pointed out that a couple mutually agreeing to meet one another at a party can be considered a date.

Dating is further complicated by ambiguous language: just-talking, hooking-up, friends with benefits, and open-relationships.

Or the idiot who leaves your school every weekend to visit your SO and misses everything.

Take things slow and let relationships happen more naturally in college.

Since fraternities and sororities do not occur much outside of the United States, this occurs, for the most part, only in the US.

Think romance is dead, particularly on college campuses, where hookups are commonplace? The study, called "The Date’s Not Dead After All: New findings on Hooking Up, Dating and Romantic Relationships in College," surveyed 24,000 college students across 22 campuses.

”What it says is that casual sex is not the only option,” Arielle Kuperberg, an assistant professor of sociology at University of North Carolina at Greensboro, told NBC News.

Dating in college is way different than dating in high school. Invest your time in getting good grades, meeting new people and socializing, being active in extracurriculars, and scoring internships, not how to be in a long distance relationship in college - or a relationship with someone at your school.

It takes more patience and effort, because it's another thing to juggle along with class, work, and friends. Having an SO in college can be great, but it can also be a huge distraction.

College dating is the set of behaviors and phenomena centered on the seeking out and the maintenance of romantic relationships in a university setting.
